Sarah brings her experience of treating mental health within the school system and collaborating with school based teams. She played a pivotal role as a member of the initial team of district mental health counselors for Seminole County Public Schools where she was responsible for developing a comprehensive tiered continuum of mental health supports in alignment with Senate Bill 7026. With her team, she drafted a highly effective suicide prevention guide ensuring proper protocols and resources were in place to address mental health concerns.
From her time working in community mental health and the Department of Juvenile Justice, Sarah has cultivated the skills to build trust and engage even the least motivated and hesitant adolescent clients. She has trained other clinicians in treating the complex trauma of commercial sexual exploitation and completed her EMDR (eye movement and desensitization reprocessing) certification with these clients.
She has spent the past 6 years providing invaluable mental health counseling within the school district to the most vulnerable and at risk students who faced barriers in accessing community resources, ensuring no student went without necessary support. She has collaborated closely with school-based teams, students, families, and community agencies, fostering a cohesive and integrated approach to mental health support within the educational setting.
