Educational Remediation Specialist
Matthew Hezel, MS, Ed, attended University at Buffalo for an undergraduate degree in cultural anthropology and a minor in history. Later, he graduated from Antioch University New England with a MA degree in education, which included a concentration in the holistic approach of Waldorf education. More recently he graduated from Medaille College with a MS degree in elementary education along with his New York State teaching license for grades 1-6.
Matthew is also licensed to teach grades K-6 in Florida and is now working towards his gifted endorsement. He is training in the Orton Gillingham approach for reading.
Matthew arrives at CHLA with a variety of experiences in education. During his career he has taught grades 1 through 8. He has worked in both private and public schools and currently teaches 3rd grade here in Seminole County.
Matthew has a passion for helping all students thrive and reach their next level of success in academics and socio-emotional learning. He particularly enjoys finding meaningful ways to integrate storytelling, movement and art into all of the general subjects he teaches!
