Dr. Maria Katz has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Bridgewater State University and a Master’s degree in Reading from the University of Rhode Island.  Maria also has her Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida where she focused her dissertation on the drawbacks of retention of students as a strategy for improving student performance.  Her dissertation focused on the importance of intensive intervention for student success for those that are struggling in the academic setting.  Maria has her teaching certification in Elementary Education (K-6) and a Principal Certification (K-12).  Maria has taught and served as a principal at many different Elementary Schools within Seminole County, served as director of education for an early learning Center in Orange County, and served as a consultant providing professional development on best instructional practices and curriculum implementation for teachers around the country.

 

With over 25+ years of experience teaching, coaching, delivering student interventions, and leading schools; Maria has the experience to help both parents and students with a variety of support areas including:  Reading at all levels, Math (K-6), study skills, and organizational coaching, executive function, and advisory services for the Multitiered System of Support (MTSS) and Individual Education Plan (IEP) processes.

 

Maria has raised 3 daughters who all went to public schools in Seminole County (K-12) and later graduated from college.  She understands through her own personal experiences the importance of providing each student the specific support that is required to help them succeed in the education setting as well as the significance of tailoring strategies based on the personalities and specific needs of each student.
